Start your Valentine’s Day with this yummy french toast recipe. I love choosing hearty bread, like Canyon Bakehouse’s 7-Grain bread because it has whole grains + fiber which fills my kids up more. This recipe is super simple + a fun way to bring some love into your morning.

 Serves 4

Ingredients:

Heart-shaped cookie cutters

8 slices Canyon Bakehouse 7-Grain Bread

1 cup almond milk, unsweetened

1 tbsp flax meal

1 tbsp coconut sugar

½ tsp vanilla

¼ tsp turmeric

¼ tsp cinnamon

1 cup strawberries, sliced

½ cup raspberries

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the almond milk, flax meal, coconut sugar, vanilla, turmeric, and cinnamon.

  2. Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter or a sharp paring knife, cut a heart out of each piece of bread.

  3. One at a time, add a piece of bread to the milk mixture and let it soak a little bit before turning over. Make sure the whole piece is coated.

  4. Then add coated bread to a skillet and cook for 5-6 minutes before flipping over to cook the opposite side for an additional 5-6 minutes.

  5. Top french toast with pure maple syrup + enjoy strawberries + raspberries on the side.

I told you I had chocolate covered! Chocolate covered strawberries are a staple for Valentine’s Day and I love this fun twist on them. The hearts make it more festive + my girls loved dipping them and then of course eating them off the stick.

Ingredients:

1 lb strawberries

1 cup chocolate, I used dark chocolate chips

Small, wooden sticks, I used wooden kabob sticks and cut in half

Directions:

  1. With a small, sharp knife, in a circular motion, carve out the stem of the strawberry.

  2. Slice the strawberry in half.

  3. At the top center of each of the berry half, cut a small V-shape.

  4. Gently insert a wooden stick at the bottom of the heart shape.

  5. Heat chocolate chips in microwave for 30 seconds. Repeat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until chocolate is melted and smooth.

  6. Dip strawberries in melted chocolate. Let dry on parchment paper until chocolate firms.
